The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan

The Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus, #2)The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I went straight into this one after reading the first in the series. Its the story of what is happening to Percy Jackson whilst Jason Grace is in camp Half Blood. Percy has lost his memory and finds himself entering a world with demigods speaking Latin and running a roman legion in the heart of California! He carries the goddess Juno into camp and is rewarded by being ordered to go on a quest to save death himself!

He is accompanied by 2 of the least favoured young demigods. Hazel who is nursing a deadly secret and who seems adrift in the modern world, a daughter of Pluto she is shunned by many. Frank has only just joined the legion after the death of his mother. He has yet to be claimed by any god and seems to leave disaster in his wake. An unlikely trio to set out to save the world!

Plenty of adventures with monsters and mythological creatures as they search for the missing god so that the dead stay dead and Gaia the earth goddess stays asleep. Once again the 3 youngsters must learn how to use their powers and knowledge together to succeed.

I found this book hard to put down and its a great read for older children and grown ups alike. Now to hunt out book 3!
